Fundado em 1256, o concelho de Odemira, tem no seu território uma grande diversidade paisagística, estendendo-se entre a planície, a serra e o mar. É na faixa interior deste concelho que está localizada a maior mancha florestal do país, onde predomina o sobreiro, a azinheira e o eucalipto.

Com 55 km de costa atlântica integrada no Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e da Costa Vincentina, o concelho de Odemira tem 12 km de praias, sendo as mais conhecidas as do Malhão, Milfontes, Franquia, Farol, Furnas, Almograve, Zambujeira do Mar e Carvalhal.
