Arganil is a Portuguese village in the district of Coimbra, in the province of Beira Litoral, Centro region (Região das Beiras) and sub-region Região de Coimbra, with about 4,000 inhabitants.
It is the seat of the Municipality of Arganil, which has an area of 332.84 km²[1] and 12,145 inhabitants (2011),[2][3] subdivided into 14 parishes. [4] The municipality is bordered to the north by the municipalities of Penacova, Tábua and Oliveira do Hospital, to the northeast by Seia, to the east by Covilhã, to the south by Pampilhosa da Serra, Góis and Lousã (within a few hundred meters) and to the west by Vila Nova de Poiares.
Arganil is located in a beautiful valley next to two streams of the same name, which flow into the Alva, above the Sarzedo, where there is a stone bridge, built in 1850. It is 60 kilometres east of Coimbra
