VILAR OF MOUROS

É circundada pelos montes da Chã Vermelha, da Senhora da Serra ou das Neves e de Santo Antão, estende-se desde um bonito e produtivo vale até ao planalto dos montes citados. Desta forma apresenta uma paisagem rural com uma considerável componente florestal e, também, uma área de junqueiras na sua zona ribeirinha, no que ao rio Coura diz respeito.
Do seu património, o destaque vai para o formoso Cruzeiro de Venade esculpido, em cantaria, estilo barroco, com a N. Sra. da Conceição sobre o fuste salomónico. Construído entre 1760 e 1790 a expensas do povo, está classificado como de ’Interesse Público’. Nota, ainda, para os Cruzeiros da Escola, do Senhor do Socorro e da Rua. Também, para as capelas e para o vasto conjunto de alminhas e dois relógios de sol. Tem Venade quatro capelas. Capela de Santo Antão; Senhora do Caminho; Senhora do Loreto e Senhor do Socorro. Só a de Santo Antão é pública, construída provavelmente nos séculos XIII ou XIV.
Venade é, também, muito procurada, quer pelo património arquitetónico envolvente ao Adro onde está o coreto, a Igreja Paroquial e a Junta de Freguesia, quer pelos belíssimos panoramas observados do Miradouro do Fojo, e de outros pontos elevados desta terra.
Os cursos de água como o rio Coura e o rio Tinto são agregadores de valores turísticos e de lazer.

It confronts, to the north, with the river Coura (left bank), being Vilar de Mouros (place of Marinhas) and the Parish of Seixas (place of Coura), on the other bank. To the south, it borders the Parishes of Azevedo and Gondar. The East, establishes limits with the Parish of Argela and Dem, The West, limits with the Parish of Vilarelho, Cristelo and Moledo.
It is surrounded by the hills of Chã Vermelha, Senhora da Serra or Neves and Santo Antão, extends from a beautiful and productive valley to the plateau of the hills mentioned. In this way it presents a rural landscape with a considerable forest component and also an area of junqueiras in its riverside area, as far as the Coura River is concerned.
Of its heritage, the highlight goes to the beautiful Cruzeiro de Venade carved, in stonework, Baroque style, with N. Sra. da Conceição on the Solomonic shaft. Built between 1760 and 1790 at the expense of the people, it is classified as ’Public Interest’. Note, also, for the Cruises of the School, the Lord of Socorro and the Street. Also, for the chapels and for the vast array of alminhas and two sundials. It has Venade four chapels. St. Anthony’s Chapel; Lady of the Way; Lady of Loreto and Lord of Socorro. Only that of Santo Antão is public, probably built in the thirteenth or fourteenth centuries.
Venade is also much sought after, both for the architectural heritage surrounding the churchyard where the bandstand, the Parish Church and the Parish Council are, as well as for the beautiful panoramas observed from the Fojo Viewpoint, and other high points of this land.
Watercourses such as the Coura River and the Rio Tinto are aggregators of tourist and leisure values.
