During the Muslim rule, between the years 711 and 1147, one could speak of 2 Alfamas:

a more aristocratic Alfama do Alto, located within the Moorish fence, in the eastern part of the current parish of Sé, which would communicate through the Porta de Alfama or São Pedro (in the current Rua de São João da Praça);
